Presentation GSIC

The Group of Information and Communication Systems (GSIC) at Universitat de València (UVEG) was created in December 2005 with the following three-fold mission:

  • To perform both theoretical and applied research of high impact
  • To provide advanced postgraduate education at an international level
  • To perform an effective technology transfer of high quality to established, SME and start-up companies

The three main fields that are covered by GSIC are the following ones:

  • General Signal Processing, Communications and Information Theory
  • De-centralized Communications and Processing for Networks
  • Analysis, Design and Deployment of heterogeneous Sensor Networks optimized for different applications

The various activities of GSIC are funded through numerous national and international projects (including European Projects) with both public and private funding. The main applications where GSIC is currently involved are the following ones:

  • Remote and Intelligent Large-scale Environmental Monitoring
  • Ambient Intelligence for people with different types of disabilities
  • Advanced co-operative Communications and Sensing for traffic applications
  • Autonomous and Self-Organized Quality Control of Natural Resources
  • Cognitive Radios for Nomadic Broadband Access
