The University Research Institute on Traffic and Road Safety (INTRAS) celebrates its 20th anniversary, according to the DECREE 1995/105, of 16 May, from the Valencian Government by which the Research Institute on Traffic and Road Safety of the Universitat de València is founded [DOCV no. 2521 of 02.06.1995].

Previously, the UV’s Social Council, on 27 December 1994, agreed to propose to the Valencian Government, the creation of the Research Institute on Traffic and Road Safety. Likewise, the Inter-University Council of the Valencian Community, in the meeting of 22 February 1995, knew the request of the UV, regarding the creation, expansion and transformation of university centres according to the Article 5.2 of the Law 1985/3, of 9 March, from the Interuniversity Coordination in the Valencian Community. Subsequently, the University Council, in the meeting of 4 May 1995, issued a favourable report regarding the proposal for the establishment of the institute mentioned, in accordance with Article 10.2 of the Organic Law of University Reform.
