TÍTULO DEL PROYECTO: Viajeros alemanes en España: documentación y selección de textos
Partiendo de otro proyecto anterior sobre viajeros alemanes en Valencia en el siglo XVIII y principios del
XIX, el presente proyecto se propone elaborar un repertorio bibliográfico de relatos de viaje a España redactados en alemán en el siglo XVIII y un volumen antológico con relatos de viaje de esa y de otras épocas, clasificados por temas que sean especialmente relevantes para la historia de las relaciones interculturales. También se prevé realizar un encuentro internacional sobre uno o varios de estos temas. El objetivo principal es rastrear la evolución de la imagen de España proyectada en los países de habla alemana por dichos relatos, independientemente de o en confrontación con los modelos acuñados por el Clásico-Romanticismo de Weimar/Jena, que basaba su imagen de este país en la literatura de épocas anteriores y menos en la realidad concreta. Los relatos de viaje, por el contrario, probablemente podrán esclarecer los aspectos de las relaciones interculturales menos conocidos hasta ahora.
PROJECT TITLE: German travellers in Spain: documentation and text selection
Starting from a previous project about German travellers in Valencia in the 18th and beginning of the 19th century, the present project intends to elaborate a bibliographical index of travel accounts to Spain written in German in the 18th century and an anthological volume including the statements of this and other
epochs, classified by topics that are specially relevant for the history of intercultural relations. It is also foreseen to realize an international meeting on one or more of these topics. The main aim is to trace the evolution of the image of Spain projected in the German speaking countries in the above mentioned accounts, independently of or in confrontation with the models coined by the Classic Romanticism of Weimar / Jena, which based its image of this country on the literature of previous epochs and less on the concrete reality. The travel accounts, on the contrary, will probably be able to clarify some less known aspects of the intercultural relations.
