The Universitat de València emblem is defined in the article 11 of the Statutes of the Institution.

On the occasion of the celebration of the five hundredth anniversary of the institution, the shield defined like that was subjected to a process of normalisation to improve the sharpness and contrast of the graphic elements that compose it.

The aim of this process was to allow the shield to function as a unit, being able to be reproduced with the same force of the historic original in all the the possible maximum applications, avoiding the loss of visibility and identification.

This way, and for the visual identity purposes of the Universitat de València, its shield is presented in the form which is reproduced below, without affording, geneally, the us of versions where their integrated elements are presented in colour.
 

The emblem (shield) of the University will be always employed together with the institutional logo (corporate) in positive and negative according to the needs of the medium in which will be reproduced.

It can be also used as an accessory design element, being able to be total or partially reproduced, as it is showed in this example of institutional publication cover.

The institutional shield or emblem has been subjected to a reduction test to verify the graphic validity in successive measurements.

Therefore it is not advised to use the shield smaller than 20 mm.
