The multi-national team includes HB9BXE (team leader), 3B8CF, 4X4DK, DJ9ZB, F5II, G3KHZ, HB9AFI, HB9AHL, HB9AJW, HB9BQI, HB9BQW (YL), HB9CRV, HB9FMU, HB9JAI, HB9JAX, HB9JBI, NF6S and on operator from Japan to be announced. They will reach Agalega on 5 October; all-band all-mode operations are expected to start on the 7th and close down on the 23rd. The operating licence and landing permit have been assured by the relevant local authorities and will be issued in the next few months. The budget for the DXpedition is 160,000 CHF. Contributions can be sent to UBS, P.O. [TNX HB9FMU] 5Z - Jim/G3RTE, David/G3UNA, Phil/G3SWH, Rob/5Z4RL, Ian/5Z4IC and Graham/5Z4GS will be active as 5Z4WI from Wasini Island (AF-067) on 8-15 March. They plan to be active with two stations, one on CW and the other on SSB on a 24 hours a day basis. Propagation permitting, they expect to operate on all bands from 160 to 10 metres, with the exception of 30 metres, which is not presently permitted in Kenya. All contributions thnkfully received. [TNX SM0CCM] JA - Takeshi, JI3DST will be active as JI3DST/6 from Tanega-Shima, Osumi Archipelago (AS-032) between 7 UTC on 26 February and 1 UTC on the 28th and from Koshiki Islands (AS-037) between 17 and 20 March. Look for him on 10, 12, 15, 17 and 40 metres. They plan to operate 24 hours a day with two stations on all bands CW, SSB and RTTY on request. They will participate in the ARRL International DX Contest (CW) on 19-20 February. [TNX LA9VDA] KP2 - Dennis Motschenbacher, K7BV (k7bv@aol.com), the new trustee for the WP2Z station, will be on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands (NA-106) doing antenna hurricane damage repair work between 24 January and 1 February. He will operate as NP2/K7BV when the work schedule allows. He will also be signing WP2Z during the CQ WW 160 Meter DX Contest (CW). All QSLs via KU9C. [TNX K7BV] P2 - Elmer Ribeyro, who operated as 7Q7DX from Malawi until October 1998, is now active from Papua New Guinea as P29DX (the call has been reissued, as it was used by Stephen Telenius-Lowe, G4JVG several years ago). He is expected to be on the Brazil Dx Net (Saturday and Sunday, 28.430 kHz, 12-14 UTC). QSL via PS8FN. [TNX PP5SZ] S7 - Look for Roger, G3SXW and Nigel, G3TXF to be active (CW only) as S79SXW and S79TXF from the Seychelles on 3 February after their operation from Mayotte (see FH above). [TNX The Daily DX] VK - Bernie, VK4EJ reports he will be active as AX4EJ on 26 January to celebrate Australia Day. Look for him from midnight to midnight local time (from 14 UTC on the 25th to 14 UTC on the 26th). Special card via VK4EJ. VK0_mac - Alan, VK0MM (QSL route TBA) has announced there will be "no Europe scheds until April". VP2E - Bill, W5SJ will be active as VP2EJ from Anguilla (NA-022) between 22 January and 2 February. He plan to operate on all bands CW and SSB with a serious effort in the CQ WW 160 Meter DX CW Contest. [TNX The Daily DX] VP6 - Jukka, OH2BR [425DXN 449] left New Zealand on 17 January and is expected to reach Pitcairn Island (OC-044) on the 24th. Jukka will be operating (on 6-160 metres CW, SSB and RTTY) as VP6BR until early May. Jukka will consider side trips to rare IOTA Henderson (OC-056) and Ducie (OC-182) islands if transportation is available at reasonable cost. QSL via OH2BR (Jukka Heikinheimo, P.O. Andy hopes to obtain permission to operate from Laos and will be active (CW only) as XU7AAV (with an emphasis on 80 metres to Europe and North America) from Cambodia the first week of February. QSL via G4ZVJ (see 9G above). [TNX G4ZVJ] YS - Miika, OH2BAD will be active as YS1/OH2BAD from El Salvador between 7 and 13 February. QSL via OH2BAD. He will concentrate on the WARC bands CW and SSB. [TNX OH2BAD] ZK1_nc - Adriano, IK2GNW/ZK1GNW has been in the North Cook Islands since 14 January but was not able to operate due to problems with his radio. His QSL manager (I2YSB) sent him a new rig via DHL, which was expected to arrive on 16 January. Latest information is that the radio is still in Auckland (New Zealand). Adriano will leave for the South Cooks on 27 January and will then decide whether to continue his tour [425DXN 454] or to return home. [TNX I2YSB] ZK1 - Peter, HB9BMY will be active (CW only) as ZK1XXC from Aitutaki (OC-083), South Cook between 27 February and 11 March. He might also operate from Penrhyn (OC-082), North Cook depending on availability of local flights. Look for him on +/- 14.040, 21.040 and 28.040 kHz (there will be no low band and no WARC activities). QSL via buro to HB9BMY. [TNX HB9BMY] ZK2 - Al/K7CA and Bill/W7TVF plan to be active (mostly on CW) from Niue (OC-040) on 7-20 February. They will concentrate on the low bands, especially on 160 metres. Look for them on Topband (probably on a frequency above 1830 kHz) everyday between their sunset (6 UTC) and sunrise (17 UTC). Antennas are a homebrew top loaded vertical with lots of radials and beverages for RX. The new prefixes will go from TU0 to TU9 according to the various provinces (Abidjan TU2, Bouake TU4, Yamoussoukro TU0, San Pedro TU9, etc). LIGHTHOUSE WEEKEND ---> During last year's event 218 amateur radio stations were established at lighthouses and lightships in 39 countries. This year the International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend will take place from 00.01 UTC on 19 August until 23.59 UTC on the 20th. This is not a contest, each station decides how they will operate their station regards modes and bands.
