This guide is based on the forthcoming book by Li, X & Crane, N B (1996), Electronic Styles: An Expanded Guide to Citing Electronic Information. Two citation formats are followed: APA and MLA, with examples given.
Endorsed by the Alliance for Computers & Writing, this style sheet
was developed by Janice Walker of the University of South Florida. Specific
examples based on the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers are
provided.
This guide is derived from queries sent to NETTRAIN and other lists,
as well as the summary of replies submitted to NETTRAIN by Debbie Wilson.
George H. Hoemann created this page while a graduate student at the University of Tennessee, School of Information Sciences. Specific examples by disciplines and style authorities are provided.
The Internationl Standards Organization has a recommended standard for
a uniform system of citing electronic documents. Information on ISO standards
can be obtained from this site.
There is only a reference to the citation of computer file; the issue
of citing online electronic sources has not been covered in this guide.
