Resumen del Seminario:
“Justice Perceptions and Ethical Behavior in Organizations”
Seminar 1:
Principles and Current Research on Organizational Justice
First, I propose to review the major principles of organizational justice providing the basic social psychology bases and their applications in work and organizational psychology. Thus, distributive justice and its basis in equity theory will be examined, followed by presentations of procedural and interactional justice. These different concepts will be examined with particular regard to how research over the past decade has influenced our understanding of them. After this overview, examples of research, again from a basic social psychology point of view (for example, the role of uncertainty) and from more applied perspectives in work and organizational psychology (for example, applications for reducing stress, limits to the effectiveness of justice interventions), will be presented.
Seminar 2:
Current Perspectives on Fairness in Personnel Selection
This seminar will focus on up-to-date knowledge of research in the field of personnel selection, with special attention to how validity concerns, organizational justice perspectives, and fighting discrimination are interrelated. Thus, we will review validity evidence, the literature on applicant reactions, and justice perspectives on discrimination. The first seminar on organizational justice therefore provides some of the background which will be developed in the second seminar.
