Some pictures of the Barrio
del Carmen to give you a flavour of the city
(random pictures of a saturday night)
First, this is what you
have to order for dinner: bravas and clara.
The more greasy the bar
is, the better...
My favourite is El
kiosko, at Plz. del Collado. Who cares about cholesterol?...
Now some girls at
Lisboa
(a nice catalanist pub by El kiosko,
in the same square). It is owned by Pep,
who, at this point, cares more about the money than about speaking catalan
or spanish... wise decision!.
...and now, my favourite
crazy waitress in El Negrito, (Pla.
del Negrito): her name is Gracia.
(Not a very good picture
of her, though!). The ghost is Maria
(I think!), another waitress who also wanted to say hello to the eventual
foreign visitors...
Now (back to Plz.
Collado) one of the old buildings for tourists: La
Llotja. It was a kind of stock market in the XIV and XV centuries,
when València was the capital of the Corona de Aragon
empire (one of the kingdoms previous to Spain) that ruled over the
Mediterranean
Sea competing with Venice... Its hall is worth seeing (nice
gothic helix columns). Unfortunately, as you can imagine,
it
was closed by night...
However, you can
always park your Vespa by its door:
it is not forbiden
