Biography
I was born in Villarreal , province of Castellón,
on the 12th of June 1965. I did my primary and secondary school there,
and then moved to Valencia to
take a degree in Economics at the University
of Valencia (1988). After
serving in the army at Engineers in Melilla,
from September '88 to September '89, I joined the Department of Economic
Analysis holding a scholarship from the Valencian Government. Two years later,
in 1991, I was admitted in the doctoral courses at Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
I obtained a Master of Arts in Industrial Organization from the
Université catholique de Louvain.
Under the auspices of the European Doctoral Programme (EDP) I spent an advanced
year at the London School of Economics, and joined the Economics of Industry
Group under the supervision of professors Patrick Bolton and John Sutton. Then
I went back to C.O.R.E. and obtained my Ph. D. in Quantitative Economics, in
October 1995. My stay was financed through a scholarship from the Bank of
Spain. My thesis supervisor was professor Claude d'Aspremont. I have belonged
to the Department of Economic Analysis at the University of Valencia
since December '94 as an assistant professor, and from November '99 I am
Profesor Titular de Universidad.
