Understanding the eye.
Transforming eye care.

We bring together vision scientists, clinical researchers, engineers and ophthalmologists to develop, evaluate and translate new technologies, diagnostics and interventions for eye health.

Who we are

A collaborative ecosystem for translational vision research

We connect university research, vision science, optical and biomedical technology, and clinical ophthalmology to address relevant questions in eye health and accelerate the translation of scientific evidence into clinical practice.

A non-diffractive approach to full-range vision after cataract surgery

    Open Access
    June 2026

A new study co-authored by Prof. Alejandro Cerviño evaluates a novel wavefront-shaping intraocular lens optimized for near vision and its complementary use with an extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) lens. Preclinical optical-bench testing supports the Balanced Extended Vision Procedure (BEVPx) as a non-diffractive strategy providing continuous functional vision across the distance-to-near range after cataract surgery. Published Open Access in the Journal of Refractive Surgery.
