About Me

I am a postdoctoral researcher at Valencia University in aquatic environmental science with expertise in water quality monitoring, ecological assessment, aquatic ecology and environmental data analysis. My research combines field-based environmental monitoring with quantitative methods, remote sensing and ecological indicators to understand and assess aquatic ecosystems.

I have extensive experience in large-scale freshwater monitoring programmes conducted within the framework of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD), including physicochemical profiling, water-quality assessment, phytoplankton and zooplankton sampling, ecological indicators and environmental reporting.

My field experience includes more than 100 sampling campaigns in reservoirs, vertical water-column profiles using multiparameter probes, depth-stratified biological sampling and laboratory analyses. I have also contributed to the calibration and validation of remote-sensing approaches for water-quality monitoring.

My quantitative work focuses on R programming, statistical modelling, multivariate analysis, machine learning and ecological data analysis. I am particularly interested in integrating environmental observations, remote sensing and data-driven approaches to improve water-quality assessment and environmental decision-making.

My research sits at the intersection of aquatic ecology, water-quality monitoring and environmental data science. I am interested in developing quantitative approaches that connect environmental observations with ecological processes and management needs.

Environmental Data Science

Statistical modelling, machine learning, multivariate analysis and analysis of large environmental datasets using R.

Remote Sensing

Satellite-based monitoring of aquatic ecosystems, including chlorophyll-a and other water-quality indicators and integration with field observations.

Aquatic Ecology

Zooplankton ecology, functional diversity, ecological indicators and responses of aquatic communities to environmental gradients.

Environmental Monitoring

Field sampling, multiparameter water-column profiling, biological monitoring and ecological assessment within regulatory monitoring programmes.

Emerging Environmental Risks

Integration of ecological monitoring, environmental data and predictive approaches for early detection and assessment of emerging water-quality risks.
