The training sessions for coaches of the Basketball Chair of L'Alqueria del Basket, organized together with the University of Valencia and the support of Bankia, don’t stop in February. The fifth event of this season will be held with Diego Ocampo as protagonist.
On February 18 at 20:00h, the experienced coach will share his knowledge in a clinic that can be followed both in person at L'Alqueria del Basket -if the health situation allows it- and online, one of the novelties of this year's program. It can be watched live and recorded afterwards.
Diego Ocampo will teach the attending coaches "Fun Tasks for Learning Defense", a demonstration of how to work on the defensive aspect in a dynamic and attractive way.
The coach has vast experience on the bench at Spain. He started professionally managing CB Tarragona between 2005 and 2007 in LEB 1, and the following season he became Pedro Martinez's assistant coach at Akasvayu Girona in ACB. He then spent a long period at Cajasol Sevilla as assistant coach, first to Joan Plaza and then to Aíto García Reneses, between 2009 and 2014, both in ACB and ULEB. Ocampo made the leap to main coach in the top flight in the 2014/15 season at UCAM Murcia. After that, he spent time at CB Estudiantes, Divina Seguros Joventut, ICL Manresa, Barça B in LEB Oro and, finally, at Casademont Zaragoza already in 2020. He also coached Spain NT in the U-16 and U-17 categories between 2009 and 2011.
The participation in the talk, has this year as a novelty with the certification of the University of Valencia. On the other hand, it continues to have the support of the Basketball Federation of the Valencian Community and the activity will be valid to compute their hours as practices of the FBCV coaching courses.
