The project reserves the right to require the withdrawal at any time of a participant whose conduct or behavior jeopardizes the welfare or fulfillment of the project objectives. Neither AMAPA nor the University assumes responsibility, either financially or otherwise, for the illness or injury which might occur during an expedition. Emergency transport, medical or hospitalization costs resulting from illness or accident during the expedition are the responsibility of the person receiving such care. In cases where the staff in consultation with local medical authorities considers it necessary, a participant will be sent home or hospitalized. We will make every effort to ensure that injured or ill participants receive proper medical attention. However, obligations to the project may necessitate leaving a participant in the care of others. I am aware that while participating in the research project conducted by the University of Valencia in Spain certain exposures to risk may occur. These exposures include but are not limited to: accident and/or sickness without readily available medical facilities, the forces of nature, travel on the ground and in the air, and others. In consideration of the right to participate in this program, outside the United States, I do hereby assume all of the risks involved and agree to indemnify and hold the University of Valencia (Spain), and its officers and employees, harmless for any and all liability that may arise in connection with my participation in the activities which are part of the project I am enrolling. AMAPA is not responsible for changes in airline schedules, etc.) * Visa, passports, inoculations * Medical treatment or emergency evacuation expenses * Alcoholic beverages and other personal expenses Some of these details will vary from expedition to expedition, but we will let you know of any changes well before you leave. Expedition Conditions Accommodations in modest hotels or shared houses will be provided. The research projects is located in a remote area where facilities are limited. If you have special dietary needs (i.e., vegetarianism, low-salt, etc.) please make note of this on your application and be prepared to bring you own private supplies. Under the direction of the Project Staff, you will share field work, lab and house keeping responsibilities. It is critical that project team members observe and respect the customs of the host country. Field research inevitably involves unforeseen situations and changes in plans. Flexibility and cooperation are essential. It is extremely important that you realistically evaluate your own ability to meet the physical and emotional requirements of the project. We encourage you to complete a physical examination to ensure your fitness. Orientation You wil receive full details on the project objectives, field techniques and site conditions. You will receive entry and health requirements when travelling for outside of the European Union. We will supply you with a list of what to bring along with recommended reading to help you prepare for the project. The more you learn ahead of time, the more meaningful you will find the expedition. In addition, there will be an orientation at the research site and ongoing instruction in field methods. Insurance and Medical Care We strongly encourage you to obtain private travel and accident insurance for the duration of the expedition. Emergency transport, medical or hospitalization costs resulting from illness or accident during the expedition are the responsibility of the person receiving such care.
