ORIENTATION:
You will receive full details on the project objectives, field
techniques and site conditions. You will receive entry and health
requirements to visit countries of the European Union. We will
supply you with a list of what to bring along with recommended
reading to help you prepare for the project. The more you learn
ahead of time, the more meaningful you will find the expedition.
In addition, there will be an orientation at the research site
and ongoing instruction in field methods.
EXPEDITION CONDITIONS:
Living standards will vary from country to country and
medical facilities are often far away and standards may be lower
than in the United States. If you have special dietary needs (i.e.,
vegetarianism, low- salt, etc.) please make note of this on your
application and be prepared to bring you own private supplies.
Under the direction of the Project Staff, you will share
in both the field work and general camp responsibilities. In many
cases the UREP team's presence in a foreign country is contingent
on that country's approval. It is critical that project team members
observe and respect the customs of the host country. Field research
inevitably involves unforeseen situations and changes in plans.
Flexibility and cooperation are essential.
INSURANCE AND MEDICAL CARE:
We strongly encourage you to obtain private travel and
accident insurance for the duration of the expedition. Emergency
transport, medical or hospitalization costs resulting from illness
or accident during the expedition are the responsibility of the
person receiving such care.
CURRENT INFORMATION:
Projects, dates, costs and other details included in this web page are based
on information available on January 2003. All sessions
are contingent on a minimum number of participants. Please contact
us for the most current information.
