  It is a manager of documentary databases made by the UNESCO. As a documentary database it has many deficiencies, but it is very appropriate for maintaining bibliographical databases, in spite of its difficulty. It is downloadable via Internet or from the distributors around the world, with no cost. At the UNESCO web page one can find the list of the distributors and download the program, emailing previously to the UNESCO, as indicated. There are manuals and additional software too, that are directly downloadable.

  (Windows, freeware)
  Database developed in File Maker (runtime included) that allows the management of notes, ideas, bibliography, sources, etc. Made with the historian in mind. Very interesting.
• AnSWR 6.4
  (Windows, freeware)
  Tool for qualitative and textual data analysis interesting for the historians and social scientists in general.
  
• BiblioExpress 3.1
  (Windows, shareware)
  Simple and easy. It has the basic functionalities for managing a bibliographical database.
• Biblioscape 6
  (Windows, shareware)
  The elder brother of BiblioExpress. It is similar but more complete. It allows the access to databases in Internet.
• Bibliographix 5
  (Windows, shareware)
  Interesting program for managing a bibliographical database. Like almost all these applications it allows the access to Internet, but the importation filters seem rather limited.
• Citation 9
  (Windows, shareware)
  A simple but powerful program for the management of bibliographical databases. It has the usual functionalities of this kind of applications.
• EndNote 8
  (Windows, shareware)
  Interesting and simple manager of bibliographical databases. It has a wide variety of importation filters.
• Library Master 4.15
  (Windows, shareware)
  A simple program for managing bibliographical databases.
• Papyrus 7.0
  (DOS, freeware)
  One of the classic and more spread programs for the management of bibliographical databases. But it works in the DOS operating system.
• ProCite 5
  (Windows, shareware)
  An interesting manager of bibliographical databases with the usual functionalities.
• Reference Manager 11
  (Windows, shareware)
  A very powerful manager of bibliographical databases with a good look. It allows the access to Internet and incorporates a wide variety of importation filters.
