THIRD VAE SCIENTIFIC NARRATIVE AWARD
UNIVERSITAT DE VALČNCIA ESTUDI GENERAL
REGULATIONS
1 PARTICIPANTS
Any person of whatever age, nationality or residence may apply for the VAE
Scientific Narrative Award.
2 CHARACTERISTICS OF WORKS SUBMITTED
Works submitted must be original and unpublished.
Entries shall be narrative works on subjects which are based on or describe
or include scientific or technological advances in any field of knowledge.
They shall be written in Valencian, Spanish, English or French, on 100
to 200 double-spaced, typewritten DIN A4 pages on one side only. Originals
must bear on the cover "Entry for the Third Burjassot VAE Scientific
Narrative Award Universitat de Valčncia Estudi General de Burjassot". Submission of a work presupposes that its publishing rights have not been
assigned, and that the work has not been submitted to any other pending
award.

3 SUBMISSION
The period for acceptance of original works closes on 4 September 2008.
Entries shall be presented at the Cŕtedra de Divulgació de la Cičncia de la Universitat de
Valčncia, avenida de Blasco Ibáńez, 13 - 46010 Valčncia (Spain).
The original manuscript, typewritten and clearly legible, shall be
presented in four copies and must bear on the cover the title of the work and
the name of the award.
Authors shall also submit a sealed envelope containing the author’s name,
address, e-mail and telephone number. A copy of the work in digital format
shall be submitted as well, on CD preferably.
Manuscripts not receiving the
Award will be destroyed after publication of the final decision.
4 JURY
The jury will be composed of: Fernando Sapińa, Aurelio Beltran and Josep
Vicent Boira Maiques.
The jury shall decide which work is to win the award. Nevertheless, should
the jury decide that none of the entries has the minimum quality for
publishing, the award may be withheld. In no case shall the sum of the award
be divided. Only one author and only one work may receive this award.
Any issues not covered by the present regulations shall be freely resolved
by the jury.
5 AWARD AND PUBLICATION
The award comprises 6,000 euros granted by the Universitat de Valčncia.
The award-winning work shall be published in Valencian by the University
Press (Publicacions de la Universitat de Valčncia) within the Cičncia
entre lletres series; additionally, the
University Press shall have a preferential option to publish the work in
other languages.
The award paid to the winner shall be considered an advance payment for
assignment of publishing rights to Publicacions de la Universitat de
Valčncia. The winner undertakes to sign a contract for exclusive assignment
of publishing rights.
6 ACCEPTANCE OF REGULATIONS
The presentation of originals presupposes total acceptance of these
regulations and of the rights and obligations derived therefrom. The winner
commits him/herself to participate in those events deemed appropriate by the
organisers.
