The University-Business Foundation, ADEIT, hosted the AOFAT Scientific Conference (Advanced Oxides For Advanced Technologies), an event sponsored by the PROMETEO project (2011/035) and backed by the Valencian Government and its Department of Education.

ProgramaThe event has brought together featured researchers in II-VI advanced oxides, with the aim of exploring the latest innovations in electronics, sensors and photonic technologies. The renown expert in the field, Vicente Muñoz Sanjosé, was in charge of its coordination, while M. Carmen Martínez Tomás y Laura Olivares led the organising committee.

The Crystal Growth and Characterisation of Semiconductors group (CRECYCSEM) is integrated by researchers from the Universitat de València, the Instituto Jaume Almera (CSIC) of Barcelona and the University of the Basque Country. It stands out for its research activity, centred on the crystal growth of advanced materials, morphological and structural characterisation, as well as for the evaluation of physical properties, specially the optical ones and the defects.

The conference’s programme had plenty of expert sessions, featuring presentations such as "Slope selection-driven Ostwald ripening in ZnO thin film growth”, by Alejandro González González, and "ZnO nanoparticles grown on different substrates”, by Dr Sreekumar Rajappan. After a panel discussion regarding collaborative aspects and lines of development, the day-long conference concluded with a closing ceremony and a farewell speech.

The AOFAT Scientific Conference has not only promoted the exchange of knowledge and experience between first-class researchers, but has also strengthened Valencia’s position as the epicentre of advanced oxides research and emergent technologies.
