In September 1999 he joined Associated Press in Bolivia and later on in Argentina. From 2000 to 2002 he worked for Associated Press in Paraguay, covering events in Latin America and the Football World Cup of Korea and Japan 2002. In 2003 he worked as a freelance photographer in Buenos Aires and Madrid. At the end of that year he returned to Associated Press to cover news in the Caribbean. From March 2005 to March 2006, he collaborated with Agence France Presse in the Dominican Republic and he was also represented by World Picture News. He moved to Spain in March 2006, where he currently works on a freelance basis. Since 2010 he is exclusively represented by the agency Reportage by Getty Images.

In recent years, he has been awarded more than 20 international prizes, such as the World Press Photo, Picture of the Year or the Luis Valtueña Award.

He is now working on a long-term project about the violence exerted against women. Some of the results of this project are presented at the Cloister of La Nau Cultural Centre.
