The evaluation of cultural projects has become a central issue in contemporary debates on cultural rights, social impact and the public value of culture. In this context, the “Reimagining Evaluation” Conference, to be held on 12 February at Infinito Delicias (Madrid), is conceived as a space for reflection and collective work aimed at rethinking how to assess cultural impacts beyond traditional indicators.

The event will feature the participation of Chema Segovia, a member of Econcult and Culturalink, highlighting the strategic collaboration between both organisations in the development of innovative evaluation methodologies applied to cultural projects with social impact. This collaboration focuses on building analytical frameworks capable of recognising symbolic, relational, emotional and community-based dimensions that are often excluded from conventional measurement systems.

From this perspective, evaluation is understood not only as an accountability tool, but also as a mechanism for learning, legitimisation and knowledge production, essential for making visible the real value of artistic and cultural work within communities and public policies.

The conference forms part of the process initiated by Concomitentes to improve the evaluation of its impacts through the development of an Evaluation Plan addressing at least five key dimensions: participatory, innovative, aesthetic, ecosocial and civic agency. Within this framework, the main lines of work promoted by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation will be presented, with contributions from Iñigo Eguia, Head of Support and Impact Measurement at the foundation, and Alicia Ruiz, Head of Programmes at Concomitentes, accompanied by Chema Segovia and Sendy Ghirardi from Culturalink.

In addition, Culturalink will facilitate the workshop “Evaluation Doesn’t Bite: myths, cracks and alternative approaches”, a practical proposal aimed at shifting evaluation from a logic of external control towards its use as a working and learning tool.

The conference will also include the participation of Javier Martín-Jiménez, Director of Infinito Delicias, as well as institutional representatives such as Lucía Casani from the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation and Jazmín Beirak, Director General for Cultural Rights at the Spanish Ministry of Culture.

Through this initiative, Econcult and Culturalink consolidate a shared line of work focused on rethinking cultural evaluation as a critical, situated and transformative process, aligned with a vision of culture as a right and as a driver of social change, as reflected in joint projects such as MESOC.
