Pau Rausell will participate in the presentation of the report, having worked alongside other members of Econcult such as Jordi Sanjuán, Fernando Álvarez and Rafa Boix to develop the set of indicators.

On Monday 19 May at 12 noon, the Museo del Traje – CIPE in Madrid will host the presentation of the report The cultural and creative sectors in Spain. Analysis of their economic value, at an event that will be attended by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Cotec Foundation, Cristina Garmendia. Among the experts invited is Pau Rausell, coordinator of Econcult (Research Unit on Culture and Tourism Economics at the University of Valencia), who will participate by sharing his vision of the strategic role of the cultural and creative sectors (CCS) in economic and social development.

The report aims to quantify the impact of the CCS on the knowledge economy and highlight their contribution to the intangible heritage of organisations and territories. It also highlights their growing importance for collective well-being and sustainable development. Despite this relevance, the CCS continue to be under-represented in the public perception and suffer from difficulties in accessing finance.

The study was promoted by the Cotec Foundation, with the participation of Aleix Pons Vigués (Director of Economics and Finance), Ignacio Gordo Cuadrado (Economic Analyst) and Francisco Javier García Campos (Data Analyst). It also had the support of a group of specialists in culture, economics and innovation: Fernando Álvarez Teresa, Rafael Boix, Pau Rausell and Jordi Sanjuan (Econcult – University of Valencia), Lucía Casani and Pepa Octavio de Toledo (Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation), Juan Pastor Bustamante and Manuela Villa (Presidency of the Government).

One of the objectives of this report is to transcend the cultural sphere and reach other areas, such as politics, economics and the business world, among others. To achieve this, educational and communication efforts are key to generating connections and opening dialogue both within and outside these sectors.

At Econcult, we are delighted to be collaborating with leading institutions and organisations such as the COTEC Foundation.

The event will be broadcast on social media.
