Olga Blasco becomes the new Science Advisor of the Government of Spain

Olga Blasco Blasco, full professor of Applied Economics at the University of Valencia (UV), and member of the Quantitative Methods for the Measurement of Culture research group at the UV has been appointed scientific advisor to the Ministry of Culture, in of a new initiative by the Government of Spain to integrate scientific knowledge in the design of public policies.

This appointment stands out for its importance in strengthening the links between the academic world and government institutions. His role at the Ministry of Culture will be focused on providing technical and scientific advice for the improvement of cultural policies, thus consolidating the commitment to science as a pillar of social progress. Pau Rausell, member of the Econcult research unit, expressed his satisfaction with this news: "From the Econcult research unit, we would like to share with everyone the satisfaction of knowing that our colleague Olga Blasco will be the new scientific advisor to the Government of Spain, precisely to the Ministry of Culture. It is a program that reinforces the role of scientific knowledge in decision-making within the framework of public policies. It is a great honor that one of the 21 scientists selected by the government is Olga Blasco, from our department.” Blasco's arrival at the Ministry of Culture reinforces the role of science in the development of more effective and data-based public policies. Its contribution will be essential to strengthen the relationship between the academic world, the international scientific community and governments. This is undoubtedly a step forward for science, culture and society.
