The DAM Chair participated in the "II Meeting of Directors of water research centers in Spain" held on December 19 at the Molí de Vera in Valencia.

“It is necessary to advance in the formation of a network or platform of the sector of the R&D&i in the water in Spain, that shows the potential and the capacity of the sector, facilitates the exchange of knowledge and the transfer of the I+D+i and also, serve as scientific support to public administrations in decision making ”.

This was the main conclusion of the "II Meeting of Directors of water research centers in Spain", held on December 19 at the Hermitage of Vera of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, acting IIAMA-UPV (Instituto de Ingeniería del Agua y Medio Ambiente de la Universitat Politècnica de València) as host of the meeting.

The event, which brought together various national research centers, served to address the challenges and problems facing the water sector, discuss sources of national and European funding for the establishment of networks or platforms and analyze possible transfer routes of knowledge and dissemination of the activity.

Specifically, 16 attendees from 13 centers participated, who made a brief presentation of the different lines of research they develop and recent relevant projects. Subsequently, examples of success of thematic networks such as Red Remedia, Red de Laboratorios de Hidráulica or Red de Silvicultura were shown, which helped to know the potential and possibilities offered by these types of links and discuss their possible translation to the field of R&D&i in the water sector.

At the meeting, the establishment of a website to facilitate the exchange of information and the dissemination of activities of the centers involved was set as one of the short-term objectives; the study of possible funds for the promotion of the network or platform; and the continuation of the annual periodic meetings to advance in the definition and achievement of the objectives of the network.
