The Resolution of December 16th 2020 by the Vice-principal for Innovation and Transfer, which establishes the grant of the UV DAM Chair for Integral Management and Resource Recovery of Wastewater’s award to the best field-related Master’s Degree Final Project
In virtue of this Resolution, the student D. Francisco Casas Boada of the UPV’s Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering is awarded for his work titled Análisis de la situación actual de la depuración de las aguas residuales urbanas en el estado español: Estudio de alternativas de diseño de la EDAR del municipio de Nerja (Málaga), tutored by Professor D. Ramón Barat Baviera.
On its first section, the acknowledged work analyses the current situation of urban wastewater treatment in the Spanish State by assessing the status of the measures taken into account in the DSEAR Plan. This analysis is done by using the DSEAR Plan’s planning database of each of the 25 river basins. Moreover, the treatment measures’ status of the 9 urban agglomerations involved in the sentence of the Court of Justice of the European Union for failure to comply with Directive 91/271/CEE on wastewater treatment to the Spanish State. The work’s second section focuses on the study of the WWTP’s design located in the town of Nerja (Málaga), involved in the sentence as well, via a technical and economic assessment of five different considered design alternatives with the DESASS software.
The prize (consisting of an Ipad) was granted to the awardee by Chair Director Alberto Bouzas.
