On 6 and 7 November 2006, the conference 'La història del transport urbà i metropolità de la ciutat d'Alacant' (The History of urban and Metropolitan Transport in the city of Alacant) was held with the aim of analysing and debating the history and evolution of urban and metropolitan transport in the Valencian Community, putting it in common with the history of transport in the rest of the country. The factors that influenced its development were presented, providing solutions in each of the historical moments, evolving and resulting in the current network. The common problems of the sector were also presented, sharing the experiences and solutions provided by other cities.
