Anabel Forte UV Chair for Digital Gender Gap

Teacher, researcher and disseminator: mathematics, statistics, data science.

Graduate in Mathematics (2005) and in Statistical Sciences and Techniques (2006) and Doctor (2011) by the Universitat de València.

She’s currently working as a Tenured Professor at the UV’s Department of Statistics and Operative Research, where she carries out her teaching and research work while combining it with management and dissemination.

Her main research lines can be summarised as follows: Bayesian uncertainty quantification in model selection and Bayesian Hierarchic Models for correlated data.

She collaborates with different research groups in Spain as well as abroad in very diverse areas (Health, Economy, Biology, etc.), among which it’s worth highlighting her participation as main researcher of the University of Adelaide’s SAGI YOUTH group.

She’s an active member of the international Society for Bayesian Analysis, the Sociedad Española de Bioestadística and the Sociedad Española de Estadística e Investigación Operativa (SEIO).

Her value as disseminator is worth of mention, for her weekly collaboration in the radio programme on scientific dissemination Raíz de 5 by RNE and her science and technology dissemination projects such as: Star Wars: El Imperio de los datos para la difusión de la Estadística y la Ciencia de Datos and Girls4STEM, a project seeking to promote vocations in STEM areas, mainly among women. She also has a blog  where she publishes her articles on statistics (Bayesian, of course) and her mathematical poems #Poemaths.
