Carme Artigas. UV Chair for Digital Gender Gap

Carme Artigas is State Secretary of Digitalisation and Artificial intelligence.

She exercises the functions included in article 62 of the Law 40/2015, of October 1st, within her area of competence, about policies promoting the digitalisation of society and the economy in a respectful manner, with individual and collective rights, as well as with the values of the Spanish legal system. To that end, she’s granted functions aimed at promoting and regulating digital services, as well as those of the digital economy and society, interacting with professional, industrial and academic areas, boosting the digitalisation of the public sector, the interministerial coordination and cooperation with other Public Administrations in regard with said subjects.

Her training: she’s a graduate in Superior Chemical Engineering by the Chemical Institute of Sarrià (IQS) (1986-1991); she defended her thesis on “Cancer Photodynamic Therapy” (1991-1992) as a researcher at Germany’s Max Planck Institute; she attended a master’s degree in Industrial Business Management by the IQS (1993-1995), as well as a degree in Executive Management of Venture Capital by California’s Berkeley University-Haas School.

About her professional experience - from 1996 to 1999: Barcelona Activa, Enterpreneurship & Business Incubators Director; from 1999 to 2003: Ericsson Innova Venture Capital Fund CEO; from 2004 to 2005: AOC e-Governance Consortium Catalonia Regional Government CEO; from 2006 to December 2018: Synergic Partners’ co-founder and CEO; form December 2018 to January 2020: Member of Llorente and Cuenca’s Advisory Council; from January 2019 to January 2020: Member of LEONISA Group’s Advisory Council.
