Tarongers Campus

The construction of the Tarongers Campus started in the early 90’s in an area of 400000 m2 of orchard, in front of the Vera Campus (Polytechnic University of Valencia). The reason why it was built is that in that time they needed more space because of the increase of students of the University, that didn’t fit in the faculties of Blasco Ibáñez. It was built with its classrooms and faculties in red block buildings that produced an “effect of perspective that simulate two parallel walls”, according to the architect Carlos Salvadores. [1]
The Tarongers Campus has the building of the Faculty of Economics; the Western Departmental Building; northern and southern classroom edifices where classes are taught and also have offices for student organizations; photocopying service and coffee bar; the library “Gregori i Maians”, the most modern library of the universities of Valencia, where you can find individual and collective areas for studying, and for loaning and consulting books; a sports field and a cabinet of health. [2]
Recently the campus has expanded with the construction of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Education, both edifices built in white, in contrast with the red-orange of the rest of campus buildings. These edifices are particularly friendly with the environment and an example of sustainability.[3]
