NOTA CURRICULAR

 

Thráinn Eggertsson received his Ph. D. in Economics from Ohio State University and his B.A. (Hon.) in economic and social studies at Manchester University. Since 1973 his principle position has been with the University of Iceland; as full professor since 1980. When on leave from Iceland, he has been visiting professor and research scholar at several institutions. They include University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Hong Kong, Indiana University in Bloomington, Stanford University, Max Planck Institute for Research into Economic Systems in Jena, Columbia University, and New York University. Professor Eggertsson’s current fields of research and teaching are the economics of institutions, law and economics, and industrial organization. His best-known publication is Economic Behavior and Institutions (1990). He has recently completed a new book (University of Michigan Press, 2004), entitled Imperfect Institutions: Opportunities and Limits for their Reform.  He co-edits with Randall Calvert the Cambridge University Press Series, Political Economy of Institutions and Decisions and he is associate editor of the Journal of Economic Behavior and Institutions. Currently, Dr. Eggertsson divides his time between the University of Iceland (fall semester) and New York University (spring semester).
