CLAUDE MENARD
NOTA CURRICULAR
Born in Canada, Dr. Menard received a Ph.D. in
Economics and a Ph. D. in Philosophy (History of Sciences) from the University of Paris (Pantheon Sorbonne), a Master
degree and a BA from the University of Montreal. He has taught at College Edouard
Montpetit (Quebec), the University of Utrecht (the Netherlands) and the University of Dijon (France) before being appointed full
professor in economics at the University of Paris (Pantheon Sorbonne), a position he
has held since 1983. His field of teaching and research is economics of
organizations and institutions and industrial organization. Dr. Menard is a
founding member and a past president (2001-2002) of the International Society
for New Institutional Economics (ISNIE), the founding director of the Centre
for the Analytical Theory of Organizations and Markets (ATOM), and co-editor of
the Journal of Economic Behavior and
Organization. He has been a consultant for several governmental and
international organizations, including the European Commission and the World
Bank. He has published several books, and numerous papers in international
journals, mostly on the economics of organizations and institutions, but also
in the history of economic thought.
