The study “Transformative Economies and Cooperativism”, commissioned by the Federation of Worker Cooperatives of Catalonia, sets out the opportunities and risks for worker cooperativism about the feminist, solidarity, common good, collaborative and circular economy.

The study  “Transformative Economies and Cooperativism” has been prepared by Alternativas Económicas and is structured in five chapters, which describe the transformative economies one by one. Each chapter analyses the relationship between these economies and cooperativism identifies existing actors and, in particular, spaces for collaboration and market opportunities.

Starting from the thesis that the transforming economies respond to a social demand that pushed them to grow, the study establishes that the links with co-operativism are based on common values and a shared desire for transformation. Cooperativism is, therefore, a common element in the feminist, solidarity, common good, collaborative and circular economy. From this perspective, it is well placed to generate alliances with all of them and contribute to transforming the economy by putting people first. The study also describes the risks of losing relevance in the face of the rise of transformative economies, including the Ecomomy for the Common Good.
