The Vienna Summer University is preparing the AEMS and GBS programmes, 3-week programmes held between July and August 2021, both face-to-face and online.

The 3-week AEMS and GBS summer programmes are fully adapted to meet the demands of the new formats and comprise self-study periods with on-demand lectures as well as different live formats.

During the last edition (the year 2020), the AEMS programme welcomed 36 participants from 17 nations and 5 time zones to immerse themselves in the complex interconnections between the economic and financial systems and their importance for stabilising the global climate at 1.5 ° C. The programme included live sessions with debates, workshops and simulations with renowned experts, and concluded with a final “change-maker” group project.

Similarly, the 2020 edition of the GBS programme featured 28 students and professionals from 20 nations and 9 time zones who participated in live sessions with experts in the fields of construction, architecture and urban planning. They deepened their knowledge through virtual excursions and live tours of buildings, as well as interdisciplinary group project work, where they designed a student dormitory our university building according to the principles of the “Historical Plus Energy District” for the Otto Wagner Area in Vienna.

For this new edition in 2021, both programmes will be held again on the following dates:
- AEMS - from 19 July to 6 August 2021
- GBS - from 17 July to 8 August 2021
