The exhibition ‘Aeròdroms Valencians’ arrives in Castelló de la Plana

During the Spanish Civil War, the air force constituted one of the more important factors to decline the balance towards one side or the other. Against this background and the lack of existing infrastructure, a number of aerodromes were built throughout all the Spanish geography. Valencian territory was not an exception and, through the conflict, up to 38 airfields were installed to supply the fronts and defend themselves from the attack of enemies. The present exhibition shows these aerodromes and their elements – command and guard posts, shelters, ammunition dumps…- like a net to defence the territory, as well as locate them in their historic context through bombardments and air war, the equipment and airmen, the industrial production, cartography, or the culture, art and the memory around us.
