The Universitat de València, by means of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial  Projection and Society, presents the fifth edition of Summer University of Sagunto, the result of a close collaboration with the City Council of Sagunto, Diputación de Valencia and Caixa Popular.

This fifth edition of Summer University of Sagunto is a meeting point for teachers, professionals, students, citizens of the locality and its close surroundings taking place throughout a single evening. Sagunto, Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Imagen y Percepción (Sagunto, World Heritage Site. Image and Perception) is a free and open-to-the-public initiative featuring cultural heritage specialists of the Universitat de València (Faculty of Geography and History and Faculty of Social Sciences) and other fields of society. This event falls within the process initiated by the City Council of Sagunto after submitting a candidature for its own city to be recognised as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.

The Universitat de València, loyal to its commitment to the Valencian society and territory, promoted this academic action involving training, research and knowledge transfer seeking to consolidate itself in the city of Sagunto and Camp de Morvedre.

In this new edition, the Summer University of Sagunto approaches the collective imagination of Sagunto’s cultural heritage, its memory and the traces of a past turned myth. Sagunto’s link to its history is part of a story that goes beyond and connects it with a universal historic dimension granting its heritage unique universal value.
