Also in 2021, the University of Valencia will run through the Valencian territory thanks to the programme "Universitats Estacionals", faithful at all times to the Valencian society by taking the scientific production of the UV to a total of 20 offices across the province of Valencia. In this programme, promoted by the UV Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society, the conferences themes have been organised according to the demands of every town and city for making them as attractive and interesting as possible. The programme consists of "seasonal" events which in some cases, such as in Ontinyent, have already reached their eleventh edition.

Under the topic "Chemistry in winemaking. Lights and leftovers of wine", the University of Valencia presents the second edition of the Requena Winter University (UNIRE), result of the close collaboration between the University, the Town Council of Requena, the Valencian Provincial Council and Caixa Popular. As in the previous edition, UNIRE will be a meeting point for teachers, professionals, students and citizens of Requena and its surrounding area on the afternoon of 29 March 2021.

After the success of the 2020 inaugural edition ("Innovation, culture, women and society"), this year's edition will address the importance of chemistry and microbiology in winemaking processes and their effect on the differentiation of wines, the consequences of climate change on grapes, as well as the properties of wine and its effects on consumers. The II UNIRE will be attended by professors from the University of Valencia, and professionals and experts from the wine sector of the region who are committed to the territory and to the production of quality wines.

The exceptional health measures that have been adopted for this conference require previous registration ​ (LINK TO REGISTRATION), which is fully free due to the UV's public nature. Once registered, it will be possible to attend the conference in person, until the capacity of the Aula Magna has been reached (limited by COVID rules); but it will also be possible to attend online, through this link that will be enabled minutes before the start of the conference (LINK TO THE STREAMING). All registered participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
