On Thursday June the 16th at 7 p.m., the book ‘Històries originals de la vida real’ by Mary Wollstonecraft will be presented. It is important to bear in mind that this is the presentation of the Catalan translation of Mary Wollstonecraft's Original Stories from the Real Life. The event, that will take place at the “La Rossa” bookstore, will be hosted by the writer Raquel Ricart; Carme Manuel, author of this edition; and Amparo Jesús-María, editor of the UV Publication Service.

Original Stories from the Real Life is an instruction book to turn young readers into virtuous citizens of the res publica. Transformation, on the other hand, comes not from the mother or father, but from a governess; Wollstonecraft breaks with the fantasy of the perfect mother, condemns the essentialism of women as instinctive and natural mothers, and enthroned the figure of the mentor as a guide for the ethical growth of young girls. In ‘Lliçons per a Fanny’ (Catalan for Lessons for Fanny) returns to the mother as the primary educator of daughters and closes a circle in which both mothers and those who can act as mothers are not seen as nurturers, but as fundamental educators of the women of the new generations.
