On 20 October 2022 the VLC Health&I Day event will be held in Valencia, an initiative led by Innosalud, Bioval and Innotransfer, as representatives of the bio business cluster of the Valencian Community, universities, science parks and health research centres.

VLC Health&I Day will bring together Valencian investors, companies and institutions to promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector. It is a meeting between the main actors of the regional ecosystem that aims to facilitate their connection. The event will be held at the Biohub, in La Marina de Valencia.

During the day there will be a competition in which ten Valencian start-ups from the healthcare sector, including the INNOSALUD finalist projects, will present their projects to different investment funds. Afterwards, a prize will be awarded to the project that has made the best presentation to investors. The Universitat de València will present the R-Drugs project on the repositioning of a drug for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, which is promoted by Rubén Artero Allepuz and Piotr Konieczny, from the University Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (BIOTECMED).

In addition, VLC Health&I Day will also feature presentations by leading experts in R&D&I in health, from universities and health research centres, who will present leading innovation projects. Likewise, companies from the Valencian Community involved in entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector will also be taking part.

Entities such as BIGBAN Inversores Privados, BIOHUB VLC and Startup Valencia will collaborate in the celebration of VLC Health&I Day. The event is co-funded by the Directorate-General of Entrepreneurship of the Valencian Department of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Trade and Labour, and the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI).

INNOSALUD, one of the initiatives that lead VLC Health&I Day, aims to facilitate the valorisation and transfer of research results from the health sector to the production fabric and clinical practice. It is a programme organised by all the Valencian public universities, health research centres and the CSIC (Spanish Research Council) in the Valencian Community. This professional initiative is coordinated by the Network of Valencian Universities for the promotion of R&D&I RUVID.

In the 3rd Edition of INNOSALUD, which took place from September 2021 to June 2022, a total of 22 innovative projects have participated from the participating entities, which have received a specific training programme in entrepreneurship in the health sector. On 20 October, the INNOSALUD finalists will have the opportunity to present their projects to a panel of investors at the VLC Health&I Day event.
