Objectives and activities of the CEF-UV



Our mission consists in contributing to improve the competitiveness and durability of family businesses. In accordance with the mission, the vision of the Chair of Family Business of the University of Valencia is specified in the following goals:

  • To be a social reference in the generation and dissemination of relevant and reliable information that allows describing and knowing the reality of the family business of the Valencian Community.
  • Its ability to develop useful and relevant new management models and tools in the professional and academic field.
  •  The quality of the specific teaching taught in the field of the degree and postgraduate degrees offered by the Universitat de València.
  •  The quality and capacity of convocation of its knowledge dissemination activities aimed at the business and professional environment. 
  •  Developing a consolidated and multidisciplinary team of researchers focused on the study of the reality and the challenges of the future of the family business.
  •  Its availability and accessibility to meet the needs of the members of the community: business, academic and society in general.
  • Its ability to participate actively and to influence the network activities of Family Business’ Chairs of the IEF.




The main activities are based on the development of research, transference and teaching on the idiosyncrasy, the particularities and the specific problems of the family business.




The transference and dissemination of knowledge to society is configured based on two types of action: firstly, informative events are organized for the professional world, such as "Business breakfasts", "Current events" and "Family business in the world" that bring together relevant topics on the management, competitiveness, and durability of family businesses; secondly, informative publications in the family business field are produced from various collections such as monographs, research notes and workbooks.





On an annual basis, training courses on relevant topics are taught in order to improve the management and durability of the family business and seminars or conferences at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses at the UV and we also support work to promote the realization of TFG, TFM, doctoral theses and curricular practices.





The chair has a strong commitment to promoting research on family businesses from a multidisciplinary approach. For this, through the academic commission, it has the advice of specialists in the areas of business management and organization, economics, civil law, commercial law and psychology.
