On November 27, 2018, the current day on the valuation of the family business will be held. During the day we can listen to the presentations of some experts on the subject such as Carlos Ochoa (Broseta), Nasir Alam (Bankia), Manuel García-Portillo (Tecnidex) and Lidón Avinent (Syntech Research Spain).

Why is it necessary to know how much the Family Business is worth?

Throughout the life of family businesses, there are many circumstances in which it is necessary to value the company. Companies may consider corporate operations, mergers, acquisitions that involve payment with shares, strategic alliances with minority or cross participations, or the sale of the company or any division of it. Likewise, the valuation is important in the contexts of departure or separation of any of the partners, concentrations or capital increases with the entry or exit of partners, or the allocation of shares to employees or managers as an incentive or remuneration.

When the valuation is made at the moment when the need is evident, often conflicting positions arise between shareholders, especially when one of them becomes a potential buyer and another becomes a potential seller. The conference aims to generate reflection on these cases, and present the basic characteristics of the main assessment methods. Attendees to the conference will be able to learn about real experiences, and assess the convenience of thinking about assessment criteria when there is not yet a clear need, anticipating problems and establishing criteria and mechanisms (considered fair or balanced) so that these operations do not harm the interests of the company, nor those of the different members of the owner family.
