Symposium "Cultural symptoms. The legacy of Erwin Panofsky" (11/XII/2018)

<img alt='' src='http://www.uv.es/recursos/fatwirepub/ccurl/870/537/Simposio%20Panofsky.jpg' />The Symposium analyzes at present the thought of Erwin Panofsky (1892-1968), one of the most influential and important intellectuals that art history has had in the last decades. Panofsky, among many other things, is owed the systematization of a work methodology, the iconographic-iconological method, which is one of the most solid props of the discipline and one of the great intellectual achievements of the 20th century. Panofsky, a German of Jewish origin, developed a large part of his teaching and research work in Princeton (United States), where he helped to popularize the history of art. His erudition, the clarity of his approaches, the topics that interested him and the dissemination of his works make Panofsky one of the founders of the modern discipline of art history and, in short, a true teacher to learn from every reading of your texts.
