El miembro del PDI del Departamento de Química Física de la Universitat de València José Jaime Baldoví Jachán ha sido seleccionado por el programa CIDEGENT de la Generalitat Valenciana para desarrollar el proyecto de investigación 2D-SWiMS “Control eléctrico de ondas de espín en materiales multiferroicos bidimensionales” que se desarrollará durante los próximos cuatro años, basado en investigación de frontera entre la física, la química y la ciencia de materiales.

Daniel Tordera Salvador gana el Premio de Investigación Cientificotécnico de Algemesí

Daniel Tordera, profesor ayudante doctor del Departamento de Química Física de la Universidad de Valencia, ha ganado el primer premio del XVIII Premio Científico-Técnico de Algemesí por su trabajo de título “Escáner óptico biométrico de gran superficie basado en materiales orgánicos”. El galardón, dotado con 5000 euros, tiene como finalidad incentivar el espíritu investigador, reconocer económicamente el esfuerzo y trabajo de los jóvenes científicos y científicas y servir de estímulo para que continúen adelante con su labor.

La Real Sociedad Española de Química ha galardonado a Joaquín Calbo Roig, del departamento de Química Física de la Universitat de Valencia, con el Premio Joven Investigador 2022 por su carrera investigadora en la modalidad “Investigador Postdoctoral”. Junto con él, Carlos Martí Gastaldo y Francesc Lloret Pastor, miembros de la UV, también han sido premiados por la RSEQ en las modalidades de carrera distinguida y excelencia investigadora, respectivamente (https://rseq.org/concesion-de-los-premios-rseq-2022/).

Enrique Ortí, ‘Research Excellence Award’ of the RSEQ

On 19 May, the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) decided to honour our colleague Enrique Ortí, Professor of Physical Chemistry, with one of the five Awards to the Research Excellence for his research activity and trajectory during the last five years. The Award will be presented on November 7th in Madrid.

Juan Figueruelo Alejano, Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University, has published a Basque version of his book "Physical Chemistry of the environment and environmental processes", updated and expanded. The University of the Basque Country has published this book, which is also author Dr. Mariano Martín Dávila. Editorial Reverte published the Castilian version in 2004.

Researchers from the Department of Physical Chemistry (Unit of Molecular Topology & Drug Design) have discovered eight new active molecules against Alzheimer disease that follow a mechanism of action different to drugs’ currently in use. In 1913, the Danish physicist Niels Bohr published three articles in which proposed the first quantum model of the atom. The model gave a theoretical interpretation of the phenomenon of spectroscopy and allowed to interpret quantitatively the main features of the spectrum of the hydrogen atom. Bohr's atomic model was the first attempt of quantitative description of the structure of matter.
