On June 23, IUCIE participated as an associate member center in the information meeting of the CLACSO-Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities network. The Latin American Council of Social Sciences is a non-governmental international institution with associate status at UNESCO, created in 1967. It currently brings together 927 research and postgraduate centers in the field of social sciences and humanities in 56 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and other continents.

New project: ERIHAD.OS - Open Science Ethical Research Infrastructure for Hateful, Antidemocratic, and Discriminatory Data

ERIHAD.OS addresses a key dilemma: Open Science (OS) promotes data sharing for impactful research, but applying it to hate speech can raise ethical and legal issues due to restrictions on disseminating such material. To resolve this, ERIHAD.OS is developing a federated research infrastructure that enables safe and ethical searches and analyses across various repositories in Europe, facilitating interdisciplinary research to inform policy, education, and deradicalization efforts. The project aims to empower researchers, activists, and policymakers to study and counter hate, contributing knowledge that strengthens social cohesion.

The IUCIE has hosted two visiting Brazilian researchers for a four-month stay. They are Felipe Fróes Couto, from the Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros (UNIMONTES), and Lorena Fonseca, from the Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais (UEMG). Both aim to foster academic dialogue that promotes collaboration between research groups, faculty, and graduate students, particularly in the areas of educational innovation, social and economic development, public policy, and civic engagement.

Researchers from the Institute of Creativity and Educational Innovation at the University of Valencia, co-creators of the Aglaya Play and Acouscapes project, inclusive technologies for sound creation, formalized their collaboration with the Chair of Digital Divide and Disability at the Polytechnic University of Valencia on June 16th. This project was promoted by Adolf Murillo, professor of music education and researcher at the Institute of Creativity and Educational Innovation, together with Chele Esteve, director of the Chair of Digital Divide and Disability at the UPV, Emilio Espí, deputy director, and professor and artist Rafel Arnal (University of Zaragoza).

Aglaya Play Control, a new tool for collaborative music creation

Researchers Adolf Murillo and Jesús Tejada from IUCIE, along with a multidisciplinary team of researchers from different Spanish universities, have developed the Aglaya Play Control app, an innovative application that turns smartphones and tablets into wireless controllers for Aglaya Play, a free software designed for collaborative music creation in educational and creative environments. Aglaya Play Control allows for simple remote control of various modules of the Aglaya Play system, such as the Sampler and Multisampler (for controlling sounds in WAV or MP3 format), Key and Instrument (for playing VST virtual instruments), Looper (for creating and manipulating loops in real time), and Creative Transformer (for applying precise sound effects), or for remotely triggering recordings. All of this is done via a Wi-Fi connection and using the Open Sound Control (OSC) protocol, compatible with Windows or Mac computers.

Dubravka Mindek is a professor and researcher at the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (Mexico) in the group "Social and cultural studies: (in)equity and diversity."
