This workshop is aimed to raise awareness on the gender equality issue in our field, as one of the main mandates of the COST Action 'The String Theory Universe'. There are two parts in the workshop, one is devoted to recent developments in String Theory and for that we count with three Main Speakers and several contributed talks. For the other part we have invited experts in gender issues (from neuroscientists to psychologists and sociologists) which will explain to us, in a manageable language, the social and individual behaviours, as well as the possible biological issues, that may be at the root of the significant imbalance that we observe. Perhaps the most interesting part will be a round table where we, physicists, will interchange with our colleagues in these other fields experiences, points of view, and possible ways in which we can contribute to make science less tilted towards one gender.

We expect that with this novel idea we all can get to confront issues that, in view of the policies taken by the different Administrations, will be of importance in the years to come, not only in our careers but also, perhaps, in our lives. It is because no real change can be achieved without the complicity of all the people involved that we want to encourage men and women, junior and senior scientists to make an effort to participate in the workshop.
