The manifestations of the art of engraving preserved in the University of Valencia are very noteworthy. Tens of thousands of stamps and illustrations fill the pages of the old library collection. In printed works both in Spain and abroad we find printers' marks, initial capitals, headings, serifs, borders, and vignettes and covers, portraits, illustrations between text, folded sheets and full-page prints, depicting all kind of issues or subjects. Its technical diversity, artistic value and profusion of themes allow us to go through the history of engraving. Important German, Italian, Flemish, French or Spanish artists take part with their engraved creations in the illustration of many of the books that make up the university bibliographic heritage.
