The tragic DANA of 29 October also caused damage to various contemporary art collections, as well as to several studios and workshops of local creators. The vast area affected by the dana is a particularly prolific territory in terms of spaces dedicated both to artistic creation and innovation and to the storage and conservation of artistic funds and productions of a very different nature.

For this reason, the Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Society, is organising various actions to help and support this sector. The #UVajuda campaign also seeks funds to help improve the situation in this area. These are the two actions initially undertaken and to which the aid collected will be channelled:

  • The Universitat de València, in collaboration with other institutions and entities, has already set up three university spaces from which rescue and stabilisation work is being carried out on the damaged works of contemporary art. These are the three spaces: The Beam Hall (Centre Cultural La Nau), the Artwork Analysis and Diagnosis Laboratory (Department of Art History and Faculty of Geography and History, at the Blasco Ibáñez campus) and MUVHN (Universitat de València Museum of Natural History, at the Burjassot Campus). These areas have been provided with the necessary technical and professional resources to carry out this rescue work in an adequate manner.
  • Support for creators in the arts sector who have been directly affected by the effects of the DANA. The elaboration of a diagnosis of the studios, workshops and warehouses located in zone 0 with the aim of channelling aid that favours the prompt recovery of their works and studios, contributing, from the UV, to the revitalisation of this important sector of Valencian culture.
