Las tambores is a metaphor that explores the reasons behind women leaving their origin country in order to start a new life. The story focuses on a group of women from different social strata who decide to take to the streets playing the drums to get each other into a group trip. From this moment onwards, this migratory adventure starts, full of new possibilities and challenges which evidence their desires and contradictions. This assembly goes beyond the theatrical aspect. The spectator will not see an actress performing a role, a different yet similar path will be created, which will surpass the stage phase. The play is set in a future Europe, not so far from the present one. It demystifies concepts such as “migration” and “progress”, for the problems presented have no relation whatsoever with migrant women. It features women in situations many would not like to experience and yet they are sneered at.
Do these stories come from the time of our grandmothers or are they our imminent future?
