On Tuesday June the 21st at 7 p.m., the presentation of the book ‘Joan Fuster. Escritos de crítica cultural’’ (Spanish for Joan Fuster. Writings on cultural criticism) will take place. The event will take place in the IVAM - Carmen Alborch Auditorium of the Julio González Centre and will be attended by Ester Alba, Vice-Principal for Culture and Society at the Universitat de València; Anacleto Ferrer, director of the Estètica&Crítica collection; Salvador Ortells and F. Pérez Moragón, co-editors of the book.

Joan Fuster (Sueca, 1922-1992) practised cultural criticism continuously throughout his intense literary career, and in it he deployed his great sagacity and his ‘hypercritical thinking’ –in the words of J. M. Castellet– to give his opinion and reflect on issues related to literature, the plastic arts, music, philosophy, history... This volume brings together a representative selection of these writings of “cultural aesthetics” –in which his incisive prose, his perspicacity in observing reality and his broad cultural background stand out– which until now were scattered in magazines or newspapers published between the second part of the 1940s and the first part of the 1980s, key stages in the contemporary cultural panorama, both in Spain and in the rest of the Western world. In this sense, the current anthology is a genuine intellectual rescue operation based on the writer’s documentary, newspaper and bibliographic archives.
