Jorge Olcina
Climate change on the Spanish Mediterranean coast: evidence, future developments

Conference given by the Director of the Climatology Laboratory of the University of Alacant.

This lecture is included in the second block of the 37 UEG's programme dedicated to the planet. In this block the titles from 12 to 15 of the SDGs will be discussed.

In this lecture Jorge Olcina will try to explain how the consequences of climate change will be manifested in economic activities and in the very organisation of the human being on the territory. Tourism and agriculture, of such economic relevance and territorial imprint in the Spanish Mediterranean coast, are activities with high exposure and high vulnerability to the impact of climate change and many of its effects are already beginning to manifest themselves in them.  Therefore, it is necessary to implement policies and practices to reduce and adapt to the changes that global warming will continue to manifest in the coming decades.
