This multidisciplinary proposal makes use of installations and affective community art and centers the project on the concept of the crisis of contemporary individuality and older adults. In the perception, based on experiences, that older people have of ageism in society and in the healthcare field. 

People interpret what happens to them and constantly and unconsciously build stories based on what their family, educational, and cultural environments convey, without stopping to consider the meanings and consequences.

The way we espress what happens to us has a meaning, a symbology or an image, which is nothing but a representation within our thinking. Words are orders for our subconscious. They are not simple sounds or signs. They are interconnected with thinking, and so is thinking with actions, and actions with reality.

Each word is a seed. Language not only describes reality, but also it creates it.

To transform your mind, transform vocabulary.

Speak with a purpose, even in silence.

Words constitute destinations. Who rules language, rules its life.

Because each sentence builds identity, thinking, and decisions.

Changing words not only is speaking differently, but also starting to live differently. 

For this reason, communication, words are essential regarding patients’ rehabilitation. Placing language at the service of the healing process is a very powerful tool that healthcare professionals possess.

Words are not innocent, we create things with them, and they are essential when contributing to care.

Reorganising the representation of an incident through words can make memories and feelings of a wound more bareable, and enable one to reinvent its own life.

This artistic proposal reconstructs some stories and experiences told by older people taking part in the project. It is a complex, broad, open project characterised by the use of diverse registers, where works are expressions of frozen and ephemeral time.

This reseacrh and creation project has been carried out along with the group GRIECE (Nursing Education and Care Research Group) in the frame of the 2nd call of the programme Reside in Research by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Society at the Universitat de València.
