The Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society organises next Tuesday 12th in the Centre de Gandia. This congress seeks to show the importance of tourism plans in the development and promotion of Valencian heritage.

The event aims to become a space for reflection on the tourism plans implemented by the Universitat de València as well as offering keys for the proper promotion and evaluation of them. The idea is to enhance the territorial heritage as an element for tourism development and diversification.

The congress will begin at 9.45 a.m. with the opening ceremony in which the Vice-Principal of Territorial Projection and Society of the UV, Jorge Hermosilla, the Autonomous Secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer and the Mayoress of Gandia, Diana Morant, will participate. This will be followed by a presentation of the tourism plans that were implemented in 2018 which are already in operation. These are the plans referring to the Castells de Frontera (Border Castles), those related to Levantine rock art and Valencian ceramics and the plan for the Turia River Natural Park. The session scheduled for 11 a.m. will be devoted to the new experiences set in motion in the 2019/2020 tourism plans. Thus, the plans for the Iberian sites, the Valencian industrial heritage, the Via Augusta and the Ontinyent textile museum will be presented. The Palau Ducal de Borja plan will also be presented in this session. The coordinators of this work, J. Emili Aura, Amparo Cervera and Haydeé Calderón, will be in charge of making the presentation. The congress will close with a debate among the attendees.

This congress is aimed at local agents, policy makers and technicians in tourism and heritage. Registration is free and must be formalised through the website: projeccio.uv.es. All sessions will take place at the Gandia UV Centre on Carrer Tossal.
