Given the impossibility of developing cultural activity in person due to the Covid-19, the Universitat de València is promoting various virtual initiatives.Next Monday, 18th May, at 6 pm, another new project will start: 'WebinarsLaNau: Science, evidence and reason conversations'. This is an initiative promoted by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Sport, through the Cultural Observatory, which aims to promote reflection, conversation and debate through free webinars for the public in which various cultural sectors will be analyzed.
The first session, entitled 'Does photography lie?', will feature the participation of photojournalists Eva Máñez and Miguel Lorenzo, who will be presented by the Vice-Principal for Culture and Sport, Antonio Ariño. The address to follow the webinar here.
After this first web seminar, others have been programmed in which both public representatives, who will analyze the cultural policies, and professionals of the cultural sector from different fields will take part: the performing arts, the audiovisual or the design. The security measures introduced by Covid-19 have seriously affected the cultural and creative field, a sector already with a high rate of precarious employment.
In a scenario of uncertainty and multiple crises (health, economic, financial and labour), the Universitat launches this channel of reflection and exchange of ideas to analyze the situation and propose possible solutions. Once again, the Universitat is using culture as a tool for reflection and social commitment to participate in this uncertain and complex scenario. WebinarsLaNau has the collaboration of the Valencia City Council and the General Foundation of the Universitat de València.
During this time, the Universitat de València is developing several cultural projects, all of them aimed at promoting reflection and the design of scenarios to overcome this crisis through technologies. Among other initiatives, the 'DocuVir.20' audiovisual micro-story contest stands out, as well as various online projects that are being developed by the different classrooms and cultural areas, and which are being disseminated through different digital platforms and social networks.
